What are the potential benefits on a personal level for the applicant?
Are there any underlying circumstances that lend purpose to his or her experience?
How might this experience benefit others or is there a deeper meaning or reason to this proposal?
Is the applicant seizing opportunities which are innovative?
Does their proposal include a special spark of imagination, creativity, and effort?

What do I need in order to apply?
We encourage creativity and imagination in your application! Think beyond a traditional essay and find a fun, unique way to share your idea. Your submission might include a video, story, presentation, photos, drawings, creative project, model, or even a budget or plan. Show us what you’re excited to pursue, how the opportunity or resources you’re requesting will help you learn and grow, and why it matters to you. There’s no one right way to apply, so let your imagination shine!
We also ask for the name, address, phone number, and Tax ID of the organization associated with your activity. This information must be for an organization, not you or your parents.
Finally, we’ll ask a few additional questions to help us understand your experience with the activity, whether you’re just getting started or already have some experience.
My child wants to do an after school camp. Will you accept applications for this type of experience?
If you feel this specific experience will benefit your child, then yes. The overall mission is based on your child’s involvement.
Can I apply for a scholarship to put towards tuition at a charter school, private school, or for higher education?
No, the Locati Edge scholarships are not intended for this type of tuition.
I want to apply on behalf of an organization, there would be no active personal involvement on my part; is this acceptable?
The overall mission is based on your involvement. This situation would not be awarded by the review committee.
When are applications reviewed by the Locati Edge Committee?
Scholarship applications are accepted year-round, with formal reviews conducted in June and November. All submissions will receive a response by mail.
I have been involved with Locati Edge in the past, can I apply again?
We are grateful and encouraged by the excitement which has been generated by participation in the Locati Edge program. Absolutely, you may apply again – there is no limit. We also welcome feedback from your past experience, let us know what you have learned.
I was selected to receive the scholarship but my concept fell through, can I change to a different concept?
We would like to strongly attempt to prevent this from happening, although we do realize there can be extenuating circumstances. Please contact us if this situation arises.
